After graduating from the University of Central Florida (formerly FTU), Bill & Gene Hess formed the practice in 1981 on Curry Ford Road and maintained the practice at that location until 1991. The firm then moved to its location near the intersection of Robinson & Mills and continued providing its clients with accounting and tax services.

Bill and Gene are always very approachable and a genuine pleasure to work with. Gene has an excellent ability to help clients get started on the right track and see them through all their tax and accounting needs with a solid commitment of personal involvement. Bill enjoys working with international clients and helping domestic clients with online accounting needs and QuickBooks application. Bill & Gene are well traveled individuals. There are few places in this world they haven’t visited or enjoy reflecting on. A few minutes with either and you understand why clients of the firm often refer to them as family friends.

In 1997, Jennifer Hess (daughter of Bill & Gene) joined the firm after graduating from Florida State University. Jennifer provides her clients a heavy dose of warm-hearted professionalism and a sense of security and perseverance. Jennifer enjoys working with clients on unique projects, and concentrates on providing a variety of consulting services for businesses and individuals.

In August 2001, Mike Hess (son of Bill & Gene Hess) joined the firm. Mike graduated from the University of Central Florida in 1996. Prior to joining the firm, Mike was with Ernst & Young (Orlando) in their Assurance & Advisory Services practice. While at E&Y, Mike’s concentration was on emerging growth companies and those registered with the Securities Exchange Commission. Mike brings Attestation Services and Business Consulting to the firm and also provides Corporate & Individual tax services to clients of the firm. Mike really enjoys working with new businesses, especially when it comes to setting goals and working with clients to establish direction and control. Mike also appreciates the more challenging tax and accounting engagements. It’s a constantly changing environment for our clients and his reward comes from helping his clients look beyond the curves.

The firm is affectionately referred to as “Hess Accounting” in the spirit of continuity, distinctiveness and as a practical matter. “Hess Accounting” is used as our official website domain, email name and is commonly used when we answer the phones.
